Today industrial activity covers many sectors in Bugey. This diversification -initiated in the late 80s- led to the creation of many efficient and specialized small and medium industrial enterprises.
The secondary sector employs over 5 000 people distributed over the following activities:
Metallurgy / mechanical and electronic components - accounts for approximately half of these jobs

Timber (from sawmill to furniture) - well developed in the area
• The food industry - well implanted, benefits from the local production capacity
• Leather working – traditional industrial activity of the Bugey capital

The region has also focused its activity on equipments goods –a sector with an important potential for development.
